This study reports the analysis of the entire content (approximately 135 lessons) of 27 web-based units created by pre-school through 12th grade public school teachers. The investigation was conducted to assess the extent to which participant teachers integrated computer and Internet technologies into the web-based units as tools to foster learning. Two sources of Instructional Technologies (ITs) were differentiated: (1) Embedded ITs created by teachers for their web-based units and (2) ITs integrated from Internet resources. The extent to which participant teachers integrated telecollaborative activity structures described by Harris (1998) also was assessed. The findings revealed that teachers integrated a variety of web-based learning activities contingent on teacher-created ITs, Internet-based ITs, and telecollaborative activities they chose to include in their web-based units mainly for information retrieval purposes.
