Increasing Collaborative Efforts in Career Education, K-12. A Series of Mini-Conferences. Phase I. Final Report.
Coley, Walton, Ed.
During 1977-78, a series of Office of Career Education "mini-conferences" was held, each conference devoted to attacking the concept of collaboration in career education from a different perspective. The notes from this set of mini-conferences form the body of this document. (A companion document, CE 020 111, describes the follow-up conferences conducted at various community sites across the nation.) The introduction illustrates the concepts behind the conferences and explains what occurred during conference site visits. In each conference reported, a list of participants is given, issues raised by participants are summarized, and a detailed discussion of each issue is presented. The first two conferences, entitled Conceptualizers, discuss the term "collaboration" in career education and how it pertains to business/labor/industry/service organizations. A site directors conference follows. Conferences for the following organizations are included: Boy Scouts of America/Girl Scouts of the USA; Labor Unions; National Alliance of Business; Junior Achievement; American Legion/American Legion Auxiliary; 4-H; CETA: Business and Professional Women's Clubs; National Urban Coalition; Rotary International; Women's American ORT; Chamber of Commerce; and Future Farmers of America. Details of a Super Mini-Conference are also reported. A roster of participants is appended. (CT)
