This report was prepared as part of Mississippi's reporting requirements for Public Law 100-146, the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act Amendments of 1987. It contains the results of 300 in-person interviews determine their satisfaction with services. A descriptive analysis of the interviews is presented in six chapters covering the following topics: (1) sample characteristics (age, gender, race, marital status, primary and secondary diagnoses of handicapping conditions, and functional capabilities); (2) satisfaction with current life situations and specific programs and services (residential services, vocational services, health services, individual support, transportation services, and recreation/leisure services); (3) independence in choice of living situations, choice of occupations and leisure activities, input in medical and financial matters, and input in social matters; (4) integration into community activities, such as voting; visiting with friends and neighbors; and going to restaurants, churches, movies, and sports events; (5) productivity in jobs and other activities; and (6) level of need for support services. Findings showed a relatively high level of satisfaction for the majority of interviewees. Appendices contain the survey instrument and administrative forms. (JDD)
