Teachers' Perceptions of the Pre-School Correspondence Program.
Grant, Julie; And Others
This report is the sixth in a series of evaluations of the Queensland (Australia) Pre-School Correspondence Program (PSCP), a preschool program conducted by mail for families living in remote or isolated areas. This report represents teachers' perceptions and evaluations of the program. The introduction to the report outlines the administrative structure of the program and describes the teacher interview which provided the information for the study. The interviews were conducted individually and consisted of questions grouped under six general headings: (1) background information on the teacher, (2) the teacher's perception of the parent's role in the program, (3) the teacher's perception of her own role, (4) her evaluation of the type of information provided in the program, (5) her perception of the objectives of the program, and (6) her perception of the limits of the program. The report includes numerical summaries of responses to each question and a discussion of these results. The results are also discussed in relation to responses obtained from parents in a previous program evaluation. The final section of the report includes a summary of the major findings of the study and recommendations for utilizing the results to improve the program. (BD)
