To determine whether classroom meetings, as a form of group counseling, could be used to improve the behaviors and self-concepts of fourth-grade students, 45 experimental group students and 45 control group students participated in 20 weeks of meetings. Results indicated improvements in behavior but not in self-concept. (BL)

Evaluates the impact of self-management procedures on attention to task and reading comprehension of elementary-age students. The overall outcomes indicate substantial increases in on-task behavior during the self-management phases, and academic accuracy in reading comprehension also improved for all subjects. (JPS)

A study evaluated a program for 54 elementary students with behavior problems in regular classrooms in Quebec. The program combined in-class social skills training and specific educational activities with peers, namely cooperative learning and tutoring by a prosocial peer.
