Adding SPICE to Science
Levey, Douglas
Science Scope, v28 n7 p30-31 Apr-May 2005
In this article, the author would like to raise awareness of GK?12 programs by sharing experiences from SPICE (Science Partners in Inquiry-based Collaborative Education), a partnership between the University of Florida and Alachua County Public Schools. SPICE pairs nine graduate student fellows with nine middle school science teachers. Each fellow-teacher team works together for the entire year. Fellows are in the classroom two days per week, where they develop and help implement hands-on, inquiry-based labs and activities around the theme of ecosystem health.
