What Has Been Learned from School-University Partnerships
Parker, Melissa; Templin, Thomas; Setiawan, Caly
Journal of Physical Education, Recreation & Dance, v83 n9 p32-35 Nov-Dec 2012
Sustained school-university partnerships are recognized as a means by which school physical education can move forward and sustain itself. Yet, these partnerships have been more the exception than the rule. There is little public knowledge about the benefits of sustained partnerships or of the process to achieve them. This article summarizes the stories of the four school-university collaborations presented in this feature, drawing conclusions about the nature of the collective results, the players of reform, barriers to and facilitators of implementation, and suggestions and recommendations for those considering long-term collaborative professional development.
