Principal Perception of HUMANeX Hiring Screeners
William Harper Stewart
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, Dallas Baptist University
The purpose of this study was to examine principal perception of the HUMANeX Ventures computerized teacher screener. Data was gathered to determine if the HUMANeX Ventures computerized hiring screener played a significant role in the teacher selection process in districts that purchased the system in the State of Texas. Once data was collected, the researcher used statistical measures to determine if principal perception differed by gender, years of administrative experience, and level of administration. There were 56 principals who participated in the current study. From the56 principals, 23 were male and 33 were female. Additionally, 34 participants were elementary principals and 22 were secondary principals. Results indicated that 84% of participants either agreed or strongly agreed that requiring applicants to participate in the HUMANeX protocol was good policy. Furthermore, 79% of participants either agreed or strongly agreed that the HUMANeX protocol increased the quality of the districts' teacher selection process. Females and elementary principals had higher overall mean averages on the 10-item survey. However, statistical tests found that there was not a significant relationship when comparing gender, years of administrative experience, or level of administration. Principal disposition of computerized screeners or commercial protocols are relevant in the success of program implementation. Results of the current study can provide useful information for both current and potential HUMANeX Ventures customers related to program selection, training, and implementation.
