Parental involvement is an important component of schools, as it provides a number of benefits for students, families, and campuses. The purpose of this qualitative research study was to explore how parents believe the climate of a school impacts their involvement on campus. The study investigated this topic through focus groups with parents in Central Texas. The study's research questions explored parents' thoughts on the characteristics of a welcoming school climate and what aspects of the school climate encourage and discourage their involvement on campus. This study found the climate of schools has a direct impact on parents' involvement on campus. Participants agreed that school staff and other parents impacted the climate of a school. Open and transparent communication, visibility of the school principal, positive relationships and interactions with parents and school staff, appreciation for parent volunteers, and events that bring the community together were said to contribute to a positive climate. Therefore, schools must prioritize these items in order to create a welcoming environment and enhance parental involvement on campus.
