Integrated and Early Childhood Education: Preparation for Social Development.

This keynote address first briefly reviews the historical nature and structure of education in Zimbabwe prior to independence. Then, the theme of the seminar (integrated education as a preparation for social development), as well as related policy issues are stated. Educational goals of the government of Zimbabwe are discussed. Concluding remarks point out the contributions of the Bernard van Leer Foundation to the welfare of disadvantaged children in Zimbabwe.
