Being Human in Sport.
Allen, Dorothy J.; Fahey, Brian W.
The structure of humanness as the unique and essential being of the individual, constantly emerging through experience and the actualization of human potential within the sports environment, is the central theme of this book. Sport is defined broadly to include all forms of physical activity experiences. Each chapter represents an inquiry unique to its author's views, yet all are supportive of a perspective that places primary importance on the humanness of the individual in the sports environment--being human, increasing levels of consciousness, being one's body, and being one's self. Topics include: spirituality and sport; meditation; concept of the self in sport; and sexuality in sport. References and suggested readings are listed at the end of each chapter. (MM)
