Higher Education: A Part-Time Perspective.
Tight, Malcolm
This book considers the meaning of part-time higher education, illustrates its scope, and looks at its relation to higher education as a whole. It provides a guide to the past, present, and future of part-time higher education in the United Kingdom. The book describes the institutions and students involved, and the context in which they operate. The position of part-time higher education in the United Kingdom is compared with that found in other developed countries. The case for part-time higher education is argued in terms of its value by comparison with full-time higher education. Alternative models of higher education are explored, and the prospects for the future development of part-time forms of provision are examined. (Contains approximately 400 references.) (JDD)
