This volume traces the history of the first hundred years of the Stern School of Business at New York University. Chapter 1 describes the school's original mission and founding. Chapter 2 describes how the school changed and developed as it responded to trends from 1900 to 1950. Chapter 3 explores the school's dramatic decline between 1955 and 1965 and the resulting period of self study, reform, and transformation. Chapter 4 describes the positive results of change in increased prestige and enrollment through the 1970s and 1980s. Chapter 5 returns to the early decades of the century to detail the birth and development of the Graduate School through the 1950s. Chapter 6 continues the history of the graduate school from 1960 through 1990 covering industry specific training, the doctoral program, the Masters in Business Administration program, international programs, and other developments. Chapter 7 describes Leonard N. Stern's $30 million gift to the University for its business schools and the subsequent renaming of the school and development of its programs. Chapter 8 describes Stern's institutes and centers. Chapter 9 details the school's accreditation status. Chapter 10 describes student life and perceptions.
