Sage Research Methods Cases
This case study centers on giving real, detailed, and convenient tips for young and new qualitative researchers, especially for graduate students who are new in the field. In general, this case discusses the basics of becoming a qualitative researcher. In particular, I talk about my experience on starting my 'journey' as a qualitative researcher. Questions like how to increase a qualitative researcher's credibility, reliability, and trustworthiness are discussed. I also discuss how I dealt with data collection and analyses, and the tools that I developed to make the process swift. Additionally, I differentiate between "emic" and "etic" (insider and outsider) stance that I took when conducting the collection of data. With my doctoral research project on the role of school's social, cultural, and historical context on interactive whiteboard use among teachers as the study that foregrounds this case study, I give real examples of how I executed my research design. Case study and the cultural historical activity theory and the theory of diffusion of innovations are the methodology and the theoretical framework that drive this study.
