Strategies and Procedures in Developing and Implementing Curriculum. Report of a Sub-Regional Training Workshop on Curriculum Development (Seoul, August 1-30, 1977).
United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization, Bangkok (Thailand).; Asian Centre of Educational Innovation for Development, Bangkok (Thailand).
Nine representatives of Thailand, Nepal, Iran, and the Republic of Korea met in Seoul during the month of August, 1977, for a curriculum development training workshop co-sponsored by the Korean National Commission for UNESCO and the Asian Centre of Educational Innovation for Development (ACEID). One aim of the workshop was to improve the participants' skills, knowledge, and techniques of designing and analyzing curriculum development activities in the areas of nutrition, skill development, and rural transformation. A second objective was the development of possible solutions to each country's specific curriculum development problems. The workshop followed a three-phase plan. First, representatives from each country exchanged information and reported on the results of previously held national workshops. Participants then visited and observed 12 pertinent projects, mostly related to Korea's Saemaul Movement, thereby obtaining an idea of that program's overall structure, operation, and socio-economic effect. Finally a review and discussion of the observed projects gave rise to the development of guidelines for improving the strategies and procedures in curriculum structure, development, and implementation based on each country's situation. Participants completed the workshop with recommendations to ACEID/UNESCO and their Ministries of Education. (SB)
