Hispanic Business and Economy in the 1980's. Proceedings of the National Symposium on Hispanic Business and Economy (3rd, Chicago, Illinois, November 15-17, 1981).
Triana, Armando R., Ed.
The proceedings contain 36 research papers and summaries/recommendations of 12 panels participating in the 1981 symposium, providing varied and extensive discussions about Hispanics in business, as consumers, and as managers. The materials are divided into five sections, each prefaced by a 1-4 page discussion highlighting the relevance of the specific topics and providing a summary of articles in that section. Part I, "Hispanic Business," presents the state of the art and agenda for action, comparative studies, issues and opportunities (private sector procurement, venture capital, Small Business Administration activities, etc.), and models for development and growth. Part II, "Hispanic Consumer Market," encompasses demographic and behavioral characteristics of Hispanic consumers, advertising and marketing research issues, and consumer education. Part III, "Hispanics in Management," considers recruitment of Hispanics into managerial positions, Hispanics in business schools, and issues affecting Hispanics in managerial positions. Part IV, "Hispanics as a Human Resource," considers income differences, job information dissemination, and job attitudes. Part V contains articles on Hispanics in Chicago. Appendices include the keynote presentation by Michael Cardenas, a speech by Emma Navajas-Rytting, and proclamations by the City of Chicago and the State of Illinois designating Hispanic Business Week. The symposium agenda and committee members are provided. (NEC)
