Organizations and Individuals: Is Loyalty Passe? Proceedings from a Seminar Sponsored by the Corporate Council on the Liberal Arts, Virginia Foundation for the Humanities, and the College of William and Mary (Williamsburg, Virginia, October 28, 1987). Corporate Council on the Liberal Arts Working Paper 4.
Corporate Council on the Liberal Arts, New York, NY.
The proceedings of a seminar on corporate loyalty and the contributions of a liberal arts curriculum to this quality in the workplace are presented. They include the keynote address by Tadao Okabe and panel presentations by Paul R. Verkuil, Paul MacCowatt, Vinson Sutlive, Thomas T. Tilghman, George N. Appell, Herrington J. Bryce, Hans Tiefel, and R. Edward Freeman. A foreword notes two models of loyalty emerging from the discussion: in the first, loyalty is portrayed as selfless, with the expectation of no personal return or reward; in the second, it is portrayed as cooperation and mutual respect with employee, corporation, and community on an equal footing.
