Evaluation through Pupil Follow-Up--the UGU Project.
School Research Newsletter, n10 Dec 1986
The Utvardering genom uppfoljning (UGU) project was initiated in Sweden to follow individual students throughout their school career to understand their experiences and learnings during that time. Approximately 18,600 students from grades six and three comprised the survey population. This newsletter serves as an interim report highlighting key elements of the program for parents and students. Information reviewed includes: (1) background and purpose of the project; (2) participants; (3) data collection; (4) ability testing; (5) arithmetical skills; (6) parents' and pupils' opinions; (7) sex differences; (8) attitudes of junior, senior, and upper secondary school students; (9) study and vocational guidance; (10) alternative courses and standardized achievement tests; and (11) future plans. A listing is also provided of examples of reports and articles from the UGU Project. (ML)
