Children, Dick and Suzette Waterman live in Colorado on an isolated western ranch in Colorado, homeschooled by their parents. Having learned about Plymouth Rock and the "Mayflower" in books and photographs at home, Dick and Suzette spend a summer visiting their aunt and uncle in Boston. During their stay, the children explore the famous landmarks they had read about and weave in accounts of the pilgrims' arrival in 1620.
