The Skippers Course. Revised 1986.
Coast Guard, Washington, DC.
This self-instructional program for a skippers course consists of six parts. Topics include prelude to boating, safety afloat, underway, returning to port, other helpful tips, and aids to safe boating. The subject material is broken up into short sections called frames. A quick quiz to evaluate learning follows each frame; answers are in an appendix. Students proceed at their own pace. An end-of-course test and answer sheet are also provided. An index is followed by these appendixes: glossary; listings of courses offered by the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, Coast Guard District Offices, Coast Guard Directors of Auxiliary, and State Boating Law Administrators; a sample float plan; and answers to the quick quizzes.
