Tattoo Cool
Senz, John
School Arts: The Art Education Magazine for Teachers, v104 n6 p46 Feb 2005
Each time John Senz starts an art lesson with tattoos, the frenzy of fun is predictable, even for staff. Senz looks forward to a busy day when he reaches for the airbrush and cosmetic paint. Students pick up the technique of airbrushing quickly and can't wait to paint designs on their skin. Although topics such as history, design, business, and medicine may not capture a student's interest, these topics meld beautifully into the lesson as captive ears and eyes absorb related facts. Staff realize the incentive to get involved by offering the opportunity to "most deserving" students as a reward for doing well in schoolwork. This article describes how Senz teaches airbrushing to his students through temporary tattoos.
