This handbook on social dance is a comprehensive coverage of dance forms as represented by the areas culturally designated in the United States as square dance, folk dance, and social dance. It provides the teacher and the recreational leader with a practical basis for evaluating the degree to which prestated goals have been achieved, and this evaluation serves as a guide for selecting materials for instructional purposes. It also provides creative suggestions for enriching the dance experience through use of costumes, music, and community resources, and through planned integration with other school subjects.
