LPAP Mini-Packet Establishing an Educational Philosophy.
Rhode Island State Dept. of Education, Providence. Bureau of Technical Assistance.
This mini-packet is designed to help school districts that are writing an educational philosophy as part of the Local Planning and Assessment Process (LPAP). There are two basic uses for the mini-packet: to acquaint teachers and the lay public with what developing an educational philosophy will require and to guide a committee in writing an educational philosophy. There are various methods by which an educational philosophy can be written; the method a district chooses should be the one it is most comfortable working with. This mini-packet outlines a nine-activity approach to writing a philosophy. Criteria that can be used in evaluating an educational philosophy are listed, possible "contents" are described, and two sample school philosophies are presented. (Author/IRT)
