"Linkway" Scripting: An Introduction.
Yoder, Sharon
This book in intended for use by individuals who are comfortable with exploring new software and who want to learn LinkWay (one of a new generation of hypermedia programs) scripting. The book contains several chapters which are divided into three themes. The first part of the book is a review and starts with Chapter 0 providing a brief overview of LinkWay; the next two chapters provide simple material that is often covered in beginning books and workshops about LinkWay. The second theme includes chapters 3-20, and it centers on important but relatively easy-to-use ideas about LinkWay scripting and some of the tools that come with LinkWay. The final theme encompasses chapters 21-25 and focuses on the introduction of central ideas in programming and computer science: conditionals, looping, scope of variables, and parameter passing. A final chapter answers the question, "Where do I go from here?" A list of reference sources and an index to all important concepts and LinkWay commands or functions are included. Six appendices contain information on keyboard shortcuts, LinkWay commands, LinkWay functions, LinkWay operators, DOS extensions used by LinkWay, and using media with LinkWay. (TMK)
