Dynarski, Mark
Regional Educational Laboratory
This brief provides tips writers can use to make impact research more digestible and actionable for policymakers and practitioners. The brief emphasizes five tips: make the contrast clear, make causal statements only when they result from causal research designs, present numbers simply and concretely, describe effects in meaningful units, and present findings as information for policy. The brief provides positive examples of plain writing in the five key aspects of an effectiveness study to support the writer's ability to use each of these five tips.
