Smith, James V. – Scottish Educational Review, 1981
The author argues that modern educational psychology tends to take a mechanistic view, at the individual level, of such basic concepts as "learning process" and "reading process." To demonstrate the importance of socio-historical context, he analyzes historical examples relating to the concepts of "reading" and "literacy." (Author/SJL)
