MacEachren, Alan M. – Journal of Geography, 1987
This paper considers the origins of computer mapping, where it is today, and where it is headed in the future. The emphasis is on fundamental changes in cartography, the way geographers approach map portrayal of spatial data, and the use of maps in spatial problem solving that have resulted from computerization.
