Comparison of Roe's and Holland's Occupational Classifications: Diverse Ways of Knowing.
Zytowski, Donald G.
Journal of Counseling Psychology, v33 n4 p479-81 Oct 1986
The processes by which Roe (1956) and Holland (1966) developed their structural representations of occupations are compared. Roe, using almost exclusively nonempirical means, formulated an eight-group circumplex, virtually identical to Holland's six-group hexagonal configuration that resulted from empirical research spanning 11 years. The similarity shows that there are valid diverse methods of arriving at a state of knowledge. (Author/KS)
