Levy, Gary D. – Sex Roles, 1995
Examined young children's abilities to recall pairs of categorically related and unrelated items. Forty children participated in the Recall of Item Pairs Task. Results show that young children use gender role categories to organize and facilitate aspects of their recall. (GR)

Experimental results indicated that verbal intelligence was the best predictor of childrens' overall performance on a paired-associate learning task. Teachers' ratings provided a surprising degree of predictive efficiency for abstract recall which was redundant with verbal intelligence. (Author/JAC)
