A laboratory simulation was conducted to assess teacher selection decision making from the perspective of teachers. Results indicate that personality characteristics of interviewers influence decisions made by applicants. Implications are discussed. (MT)

Several studies have suggested that screening decisions made by principals are biased by the age of teacher candidates. Three basic orientations to problem solving are defined and related to four profiles of problem environment.
