Many expectations concerning performance on educational and psychological tests are sex-stereotyped. Females, for example, are expected to do better on verbal tests, while males are expected to do better on mathematical tests. Compared the factor patterns underlying male (N=221) and female (N=420) self-reports on the Bem Sex Role Inventory. Results showed that when males and females were compared, only one of 10 factors reached the similarity criterion, suggesting that gender can be an important confounding variable in sex role research. Determines if teacher ratings of students' classroom behavior would be influenced by the format of the instrument. Elementary school teachers completed dual ratings of students on the Devereux Elementary School Behavior Rating Scale (DESB). The predictive validity of the American College Test (ACT) for two classes totaling 2,289 students was investigated at successive intervals over four years of college.
