Roth, Gary L.; Daniel, Wayne W. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1978
A table of critical values is presented for use with Chacko's ordered alternatives test for the analysis of variance. (Author/JKS)

Messick, David M. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1982
Formulae and graphs are presented allowing computation of the variances of three prototypical distributions over a finite number of categories. The uses of the variances of the maximum variance distribution, the uniform distribution and a unimodal triangular distribution to make inferences about distribution shapes are shown in several examples.…

Yost, Michael – New Directions for Institutional Research, 1988
Even the application of such mainstays of the institutional researcher's statistical tool kit as the t test and ANOVA is not always as straightforward as it seems. The researcher must first check to see that the underlying methodological and statistical assumptions are being met. (Author)

Behuniak, Peter Jr.; Gable, Robert K. – Educational Research Quarterly, 1981
Two variables related to decision making and goal persistence, self-concept and locus of control are examined. Factor analysis and reliability data for these scales are discussed, and the use of short instruments within the context of a larger survey to examine such educational variables is explained. (Author/AL)

Silvern, Steven B. – Educational Communication and Technology: A Journal of Theory, Research, and Development, 1980
A one-way analysis of variance was used to assess the effects of imposed (picture) and induced (play) imagery on the aural language comprehension of 80 kindergarten children who were randomly assigned to two treatment and two control conditions. No significant differences in recall were found. (Author/JD)

Hortin, John A.; Sheriff, Dennis E. – Educational Communication and Technology: A Journal of Theory, Research, and Development, 1981
Points out that 108 studies in the first 25 volumes of AV Communication Review used univariate analysis of variance to test experimental hypotheses, and suggests that researchers include omega-squared values in their reports to permit estimation of the relationship between x and y variables, and correlation data for comparing studies.
