Kailee Matthews; Lane Marquardt; Hannah Keene; Sally B. Shepley; Collin Shepley – Education and Treatment of Children, 2024
For students exhibiting challenging behaviors that are nondangerous to others and nondisruptive to classroom activities, such as daydreaming and doodling, educators are unlikely to refer these students for more individualized and resource-intensive behavioral support. As a step towards understanding how to address these students' motivational…

Wang, Chuang; Algozzine, Bob – Journal of Educational Research, 2011
Considerable research has investigated the link between academic achievement and social behavior. The authors set the context for their work by reviewing some of the research that has been done. To address similarities and limitations in previous research, they included concurrent ratings of behavior from teachers and children's performance on…

Wyatt, Randall C.; Meyers, Lawrence S. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1987
One hundred and twenty-eight subjects responded to one of four differently labeled five-point Likert-type response scales. Although no significant differences in test means and in reliability estimates were found among response scales, the scales did differ on measures of variability. (Author/LMO)

Elliot, Stephen N.; And Others – Journal of Experimental Education, 1986
The predictive validity of the Scales for Rating the Behavioral Characteristics of Superior Students (SRBCSS) in identifying gifted children among various sociocultural groups was examined. Regression analyses were computed between the SRBCSS and both the Standard Achievement Test and a standardized intelligence test. Implications for practice and…

Barnes, Janet L.; Landy, Frank J. – Applied Psychological Measurement, 1979
Although behaviorally anchored rating scales have both intuitive and empirical appeal, they have not always yielded superior results in contrast with graphic rating scales. Results indicate that the choice of an anchoring procedure will depend on the nature of the actual rating process. (Author/JKS)

Vidoni, Dennis O.; And Others – Psychology in the Schools, 1983
Examined teacher and mental health professional's ratings of the seriousness of 50 behavior problems and compared results to those of Wickman (1928). Found an increase in the similarity between teachers' and mental health professionals' judgments and between children's and teachers' judgments. (Author/JAC)

Kinicki, Angelo J.; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1985
Using both the Behaviorally Anchored Rating Scales (BARS) and the Purdue University Scales, 727 undergraduates rated 32 instructors. The BARS had less halo effect, more leniency error, and lower interrater reliability. Both formats were valid. The two tests did not differ in rate discrimination or susceptibility to rating bias. (Author/GDC)

Rozencwajg, Paulette; Corroyer, Denis – Journal of Genetic Psychology, 2005
In this study, the authors improved the understanding of the cognitive processes underlying the reflective-impulsive cognitive style (RI), which was initially measured by J. Kagan, B. L. Rosman, D. Day, J. Albert, and W. Phillips (1964) on the Matching Familiar Figures Test (MFFT). The authors determined the relationships between the RI style and…

Candler, Ann C.; And Others – Education, 1983
Examines differences between 45 learning disabled, mentally retarded, and Title I elementary students on intelligence, academic achievement, and behavior measures.
