For many, low-level employment and crime were not mutually exclusive, although most respondents were not employed at the time of the arrest that led to their current incarceration. Using a seven-month follow-up study of 1983 graduates (N=346) from a large, public university, compared the employment situation of men to women and of 1979 to 1983 graduates.
