Describes the scope, objectives, and status of a study of user responses to public online catalogs conducted in 1982 with Council on Library Resources (CLR) funding. The framework for evaluating the user-catalog interface, data collection, and questionnaire content are discussed, and a copy of the survey questionnaire is appended. (Author/JL)

Three articles on library buildings present Library Journal's annual architectural survey of completed public and academic library buildings and library projects in progress; guidelines for leasing a shared library facility, and a description of a successful public library building project in Michigan are also discussed. Library patrons evaluated two versions of a bibliographic record displayed on cathode ray tube terminal, one representing Library of Congress (LC) format, the other, one of 15 format variations. Patrons generally preferred side heading label and underlining to LC forms, and upper and lower case letters to lower case only. (EJS)
