READI is an acronym for reflection, exploration, alternatives, demonstration, and introspection. These are key words to help persons use a period of silence in an individualized way. The period of silence provides time for them to collect their own thoughts following a question for which divergent thinking is appropriate. (Author)

Q Sort: Unstandardizing Personal Assessment.

This paper reviews the theoretical and research foundations for the Q sort procedure. Steps in the development of Q sort instruments are described and a model for the practical use of Q sort results in counseling is developed. The Q sort is the client's own description of himself. (Author)
