Examines the preliminary evaluation of self-instructional material in physiology designed as remedial work by medical students. The materials are now used by science, veterinary, dental, and postgraduate medical students and have been distributed to 20 countries. Evaluation results indicate the materials are effective methods of study.

Describes a clinical physiology course designed to teach 40 graduate nursing students scattered over a large, sparsely populated geographic area. The course included the use of self-instructional materials, but with content and evaluation equivalent to an on campus course. Student evaluation of the course is included.

Renewed Expectations for Adults in Continuing Higher Education (Project REACH) provides educational services tailored to the needs of blue-collar workers, including courses on audiocassette tapes and simplified registration procedures. The program has been enthusiastically received by people who had faced many barriers to continuing education. (SK)

The development and testing of an information mapped programed text on critical path method for an MBA elective at a British business school is described. The results show that information mapping gave satisfactory learning results when used as a self-instructional method under these circumstances. Five references are listed. (Author/CHC)

The development and validation of a system teaching problem-solving in pharmacotherapeutics is described. The module was developed for both small group and self-instruction using clinical cases in hypertension. Results show the method to be an effective means of teaching therapeutic information focusing on patient situations. (MSE)
