Tongxi Liu – Journal of Educational Computing Research, 2024
Addressing cognitive disparities has become a paramount concern in computational thinking (CT) education. The intricate and nuanced relationships between CT and cognitive variations emphasize the needs to accommodate diverse cognitive profiles when fostering CT skills, recognizing that these cognitive functions can manifest as either strengths or…

Berry, Kenneth J.; Mielke, Paul W., Jr. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1986
An algorithm and associated FORTRAN-77 computer subroutine are described for computing Goodman and Kruskal's tau-b statistic along with the associated nonasymptotic probability value under the null hypothesis tau=O. (Author)
Descriptors: Algorithms, Computer Software, Programing Languages, Sampling

Rasmussen, Jeffrey Lee – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1993
J. P. Shaffer has presented two tests to improve the power of multiple comparison procedures. This article described an algorithm to carry out the tests. The logic of the algorithm and an application to a data set are given. (SLD)

Andor, Csaba; And Others – Evaluation in Education: An International Review Series, 1985
The Galois-lattice is a graphic method for representing all possible developmental phases to reach a given total knowledge via different partial knowledge structures. Algorithms are proposed for incorporating statistical analysis into the Galois-lattice method. A comparison to the Rasch model and application for educational research are given. (BS)
Descriptors: Algorithms, Educational Research, Elementary Secondary Education, Mathematical Models

Bock, R. Darrell; And Others – Applied Psychological Measurement, 1988
A method of item factor analysis is described, which is based on Thurstone's multiple-factor model and implemented by marginal maximum likelihood estimation and the EM algorithm. Also assessed are the statistical significance of successive factors added to the model, provisions for guessing and omitted items, and Bayes constraints. (TJH)

Liou, Michelle; Chang, Chih-Hsin – Psychometrika, 1992
An extension is proposed for the network algorithm introduced by C.R. Mehta and N.R. Patel to construct exact tail probabilities for testing the general hypothesis that item responses are distributed according to the Rasch model. A simulation study indicates the efficiency of the algorithm. (SLD)
