Hester, Kimberly S.; Robledo, Issac C.; Barrett, Jamie D.; Peterson, David R.; Hougen, Dean P.; Day, Eric A.; Mumford, Michael D. – Creativity Research Journal, 2012
In recent years, it has become apparent that knowledge is a critical component of creative thought. Dierdorff, Erich C.; Surface, Eric A.; Brown, Kenneth G. – Journal of Applied Psychology, 2010
Empirical evidence supporting frame-of-reference (FOR) training as an effective intervention for calibrating raters is convincing. Yet very little is known about who does better or worse in FOR training. We conducted a field study of how motivational factors influence affective, cognitive, and behavioral learning outcomes, as well as near transfer…

Weaver, Charles A., III; Kintsch, Walter – Journal of Educational Psychology, 1992
Three experiments investigated the ability of 79 college students to solve similar algebra word problems. Data indicate that students are able to perceive and use similarities in such problems at the level of a conceptual structure. A training session to explain relevant structural principles was effective in improving performance. (SLD)

Kliegl, Reinhold; And Others – Developmental Psychology, 1989
Investigated the range and limits of cognitive reserve capacity as a general approach to the understanding of age differences in cognitive functioning. Chen, Chin-Yi; Michael, William B. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1993
Empirical validation of the first-order and higher-order factor structures of the structure-of-intellect (SOI) model was provided by reanalysis of a database of 39 measures administered to 178 Coast Guard Cadets. Results suggest that SOI could be reconceptualized as a pyramid-like hierarchical theory of intelligence. (SLD)
