Origins and development of a computerized credit transfer system for students in the University of Wisconsin system is described. Brigham Young University (Utah) has an automated system for evaluating student transfer information, using an established database containing a historical record of courses taken at other schools. A unique feature of the system is that course evaluation and degree audit are completed the day the student is admitted. (Author/MSE)

Two-year college students in Ohio can use a comprehensive system of specific guidelines to aid them in transferring to any of Ohio University's six campuses. The articulation system uses a computerized method for converting course listings on the student's transcript into corresponding courses at the university. (MSE)

A discussion of academic advising provides general advice for faculty advisors and looks at distinctive elements in academic advising for technical subjects, particularly those encountered with transfer students who have technical credits to transfer. Results are reported of a national college survey investigating procedures for transfering credit, and the quality and quantity of credits accepted at two- and four-year colleges and universities. The data from 835 respondents were manipulated by the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences. (LB)
