Raynaudo, Gabriela; Peralta, Olga – European Journal of Psychology of Education, 2019
Children are exposed to symbolic media, such as printed or electronic pictures. Chen, Zhe; Siegler, Robert S. – Grantee Submission, 2013
This study examined how toddlers gain insights from source video displays and use the insights to solve analogous problems. Krekling, S.; And Others – Journal of Experimental Child Psychology, 1989
Among 294 children of three to eight years, tactual oddity learning increased gradually with age. The finding of bidirectional cross-modal transfer of oddity learning supported the suggestion that such transfer occurs when training and transfer oddity tasks share a common vehicle dimension. Results are considered consistent with the view that…

Tomiser, Jeanne M.; And Others – American Journal of Mental Deficiency, 1983
Four severely retarded and four nonretarded adolescents learned compound discriminations in the haptic (touch) modality using D. Ray's conflict-compound procedure. Subjects evinced selective attention effects in posttraining tests conducted in the haptic modality. Visual transfer tests revealed the effects of conflict-compound discrimination…

Darch, Craig; Eaves, Ronald C. – Journal of Special Education, 1986
When learning-disabled high school students (N=22) were taught about astronomy by either presenting key concepts with a visual spatial display or by presenting concepts with texts, tests measuring short-term mastery of content favored students taught with the visual display. Hunstad, Egil – Scandinavian Journal of Educational Research, 1985
Visualized braille was presented on closed circuit television (CCTV) to six blind tactile braille reading subjects (ages 12-50). Results supported cross-modal transfer of learning from tactile to visual modality. After intensive visual training, these subjects could discriminate visual forms and read ordinary print using the CCTV. (Author/BS)
