A sample permission letter for off-air videotaping is given to serve as a guide to educators and librarians for securing permissions from copyright owners. The final section is an analysis of the copyright law including background; rights of copyright owners; definition of public performance; fair use; off-air recording guidelines; face-to-face exemption; television rights; and a conclusion.
