Follow-Up Studies: A Practitioner's Handbook. PRO-ED Series on Transition.
Sitlington, Patricia L.; Frank, Alan R.
This book is a guide to conducting follow-up studies on outcomes for students with disabilities and other special needs in school-to-work and other transitional programs. An accompanying computer disk contains a bank of survey items organized by the basic content areas found in most follow-up studies. Chapters offer a step-by-step guide through the process of designing and carrying out a follow-up study. Individual chapters address the following topics: (1) conducting a follow-up study; (2) deciding what you want to know; (3) identifying participants for your survey; (4) designing your survey forms; (5) developing, field testing, revising, and administering your survey; and (6) using the information you have gathered. Four appendices provide notes to the program evaluation person on evaluating survey forms; excerpts from a sample interviewer handbook; examples of follow-up study reports; and sample table and figures. (Contains 45 references.) (DB)
