The California Early Childhood Mentor Teacher Program matches experienced child care teachers with high school and community college students in child care and development who want direct experience working with young children. This 25-minute video describes the mentor program, illustrating the benefits of the mentor-intern relationship with student teachers working in seven different child care settings that use the mentor program. Also highlighted are the benefits of the program for the mentor teachers themselves, which include professional recognition, professional and personal growth, career advancement, and a renewed commitment to the field. A brief print guide (English and Spanish language) accompanying the video includes two exercises for preparing an audience for viewing the video, and suggested follow-up activities, such as reaction discussions, practical discussion among mentor teachers, and a visit with a mentor teacher.
