The racial gap in who is going to college is wider now than at any time in the past 25 years. Bureau of Labor statistics show 50 percent of whites entered college in 1975. In 1985, that figure had risen to 60 percent. In 1985, about 50 percent of nonwhites entered college. In 1985, 45 percent entered. (PS)
