This document contains 22 tables of statistical data comprising reference group summaries for the data included in the October 1988 New York State Comprehensive Assessment Reports. School administrators can compare the data for their schools and school districts with those for various reference groups in New York. Sections A through E include reference group summaries for the following groups: (1) the Pupil Evaluation Program tests; (2) the grade 6 program evaluation test in social studies; (3) the preliminary competency tests; (4) the Regents competency tests; and (5) the Regents examinations that were administered during the 1987-88 school year. Section F comprises summaries for the high school graduation results for the 1987-88 school year. Sections G through I include the following: (1) racial/ethnic data; (2) data on pupils with limited English proficiency; (3) pupil/support staff ratios; (4) average class size data for reference groups in New York State for the 1987-88 school year; (5) attendance and dropout rates for the 1987-88 school year; and (6) poverty level data based on the 1980 Federal Census.
