These two reports present statistical information on South Dakota public, Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA), and private school libraries for the 1986-87 and 1987-88 school years. Data in the following areas are included for both years: enrollment served, total circulation, circulation per capita, book circulation, circulation per volume, interlibrary loan requests, librarian hours per week, hours open per week, total volumes, volumes added, periodical subscriptions, audiovisual materials, adult staff, student assistants, and square footage. The 1987-88 survey also includes information on board-adopted materials selection policies and the availability of interlibrary loan, bibliography, public use, and audiovisual production services. The final section of each report presents financial data on public school libraries: total district expenditures; total library/media expenditure; percentage of budget spent for library/media services; salaries; materials and supplies; purchased services; operating expenditures per capita; library materials per capita, and capital expenditures.
