This discussion of the major issues concerning online public access library catalogs highlights types of systems, user behavior, structure of systems and user-friendly information retrieval methods (menus, fuzzy matches, prompters), and additional search strategy features (limits, browsing, truncation). Discusses the theoretical foundations of the library media center in education and summarizes the results of a survey of secondary teachers and students at six francophone comprehensive high schools in the Montreal area that examined their use of and attitudes toward the library.
