Discusses research results indicating that teachers, students, parents, and employers in the United Kingdom agree that the primary goal of education is to develop student character and self-motivation. It is of prime importance that children begin their education in their mother tongue, as this will provide the optimum conditions for the development of the personality and will improve their social chances. Mother-tongue education is beginning to be accepted in a number of European countries. (RM)

Questions are raised about the media's influence on learning, its relationship with school programs, its effect on personality development, and how teachers coordinate their work with the media.
