Examines the nature and impact of boundaries and boundary management in interpersonal skills training (IST). States that the management trainer should be aware of the boundaries he is establishing with trainees and colleagues, and the possible consequences, and the boundaries others are establishing and his reactions to them. The author attempts to show the value of using actual work problems as vehicles for development of management teams. The use of such diagnostic methods as repertory grids and identity matrices is described. Two case studies of situations in which the approach was applied are given in detail. (SK)
